Shine Rebrand

In late 2023, as part of delivering on our strategy, it was agreed to work toward a clear single identity for Shine to increase our impact, efficiency and effectiveness.

In late 2023, as part of delivering on our strategy, it was agreed to work toward a clear single identity for Shine to increase our impact, efficiency and effectiveness.

The rationale for the change was to create a more cohesive organisation overall. It was an important step in Shine’s evolution and a lengthy process.

Shine has been working hard to deliver services since the 1970s and, as part of our development as an organisation, we established important national programmes. One of these was our national stigma-reduction programme, which sat under the name See Change.  It managed our Green Ribbon Campaign, our Workplace Programme and Ambassador Programme.

Headline was the name given to Ireland’s national programme for responsible reporting and representation of mental illness and suicide in Irish media. This programme works nationally to improve the standards and representation of mental health reporting in Irish media through training, media monitoring, policy and an awards event that acknowledges responsible reporting.

Such was the success of these programmes, that over the years, Shine, See Change and Headline were perceived publicly as three different companies.

We are a small charity of just over 30 staff in total with a mandate to deliver efficient and effective services, attract resources and strengthen our messaging. A more streamlined, cohesive approach was necessary as Shine continues to grow and evolve. We needed an integrated presentation of our services and work, to lessen confusion.

The process got underway in 2024.  Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders took place in the form of focus groups workshops to arrive at a refreshed brand redesign under which all our programmes and activities are now aligned.

Shine was identified as the strongest brand, so See Change and the programmes that previously sat under it were renamed as the Shine Green Ribbon Campaign, Shine Workplace Programme and Shine Ambassador Programme.

Headline is now known as Shine Media, and the Shine Mental Health Media Awards.

Roll out of our new branding nearing completion, with the provision of newly designed marketing materials and updated resources shared with our stakeholders.

This important step marks our ongoing development, evolution and our future.
